As a follow up to my re-cap of the CHANEL 2018/2019 Cruise Collection, I thought it would be fun to highlight the accessories shown that day. Always quite special and delightfully thematic, the bags, shoes, jewelry, and other accessories of this standout collection are absolutely deserving of a re-cap of their own.
With the Cruise collections, I find the bags to always be a particular highlight. From beloved classic styles to newer additions to the CHANEL universe like the BOY, GABRIELLE, and CHANEL 31, Monsieur Lagerfeld always captivates with his designs for the Cruise Collections. Even the most casual admirer cannot help but be totally captivated by these special creations. Classically elegant styles done in exotic leathers in sunset hues are the perfect foil to whimsical little minaudières shaped like lifebelts featuring Mademoiselle Chanel’s favored flower, the camellia. With fabrications ranging from leather to waxed canvas, and with a color palette of mostly whites, blues, and pinks, these bags are the perfect accompaniment to a collection rooted in the fashionable world of luxury liners and chic resorts, and are truly the pièces de résistance of a downright fabulous collection. In fact, the smart little red, white and blue vanity case style bag in this post just shot to the top of my personal bag lust list. Darling Husband, if you’re reading this (and I know you do) please take note, this would be the perfect birthday gift.
Prim little party shoes and jaunty strappy sneakers were at the model’s feet, while oversized round sunglasses, fingerless gloves, beaded belts, white tights, and berets helped complete the runway looks. As for jewelry, with CHANEL having pioneered the realm of spectacular costume jewels, the 2018/2019 collection does not disappoint. Stunning sautoirs and pearl bejewelled logo bangles round out the accessories of the collection exquisitely.
