Even though we are well into winter, I thought it would be fun to put together a little winter edit of some of my favorite pieces. I was chatting with a follower the other week about how it might take a little bit more effort to dress during these cold months but that there’s no need to compromise on style. In fact, I find that taking those few extra minutes to put together looks that not only work for the Canadian climate but are also stylish makes the weather just a little bit more tolerable.
The foundation of any good winter look is the proper boots and coat. I find that it’s worth investing in pieces that are not only durable and warm but are also pretty. Since you’ll be waring these pieces almost daily, you’re going to want to love them and if it means spending a few extra dollars to get something you really love, I say it’s well worth it. I own this stunning LAMARQUE jacket in an olive and black fabrication and I cannot tell you how many compliments I receive on it. It’s truly that illusive combination of form and function! Since moving to Montreal, I’ve learned that attractive gloves, hats, and ear muffs are also an absolute necessity.
From sweaters to winter appropriate accessories, there are so many great pieces you can add to your look. I always love a great blanket scarf – it is perfect for bundling up, and allows you to layer effortlessly. I find that Aritzia always has a number of great options each season and at a really great price point. And as much as I love my dresses, I find that in winter, I reach for pants much more frequently. I love a great legging since they fit perfectly inside boots, and this pair of moto-inspired faux leather leggings from Dynamite adds the perfect amount of edge with the zipper detail. As for jeans, as much as I love skinny cropped denim, I have been gravitating towards a more relaxed style. I find that the Girlfriend style is the perfect mix of the more form-fitting skinny and the also popular Boyfriend style that while stylish, can somethings be a bit shapeless. This adorable pair of Girlfriend jeans from Garage is at such a great price point, you can even treat yourself to an extra pair!
