Weekends have been pretty crazy recently between going back to the States, wedding planning activities, school work (Nuremberg Trial documents anyone?) and events. This weekend, Darling Fiance and I took it pretty easy. We went to see the Immortals on Friday night (he will be sitting through Twilight as my retribution for all of the impailment I had to witness) and then Saturday we went for a walk in the Old Port and then attended an intimate dinner party hosted by our friend the Frenchman. Not only is he a well dressed tax lawyer, he’s also pretty amazing in the kitchen. We did a few dozen oysters (Darling Fiance can shuck!) and then fresh pasta in an amazing clam sauce. One of the things that I love the most about Montreal is how international the population is. Our dinner party included the Frenchman, American me, Greek Darling Fiance, and then a Brazilian, a Ukranian, a Morrocan, and was rounded out by a Saudi. It was like a slightly boozy United Nations meeting… Actually it very much reminded me of the dining room of the United Nations where I once had the privilege of having lunch. As per most dinner parties at the Frenchman’s, and as the wine and scotch flowed freely , the evening concluded with the guys playing with Napoleonic era swords…and a spear. Kindly picture a group of slightly inebriated guys attempting to live out their conquering hero ambitions in the living room of a downtown Montreal condo. Hysterical, but edging a little too close to disaster. How was your weekend darlings? I hope sword, and spear, free.
