My decidedly preppy look from yesterday inspired me to dedicate this week’s Trend Spotting to this classic style of dressing. This trend has never really gone out of style with designers like Tory Burch and Ralph Lauren championing this all-American aesthetic, season after season. You can never go wrong by injecting a little polished preppy style in to your wardrobe. From prim peals to ladylike separates, it’s easy to add prep school style to your outfit. After spending a few years living in the super preppy neighborhood of Georgetown in Washington DC, I’ve come to love this classic American style. It reminds me of the gorgeous tree-lined streets of the tony enclave that is home to Georgetown University and to Smith Point, the bar where during the Bush administration you had the chance of spotting Jenna or Barbara slipping their security detail and partying away. Pearls and all. Lets just say my love of all black outfits would usually raise a few eyebrows during my nights out there.
