Located in the 6th, Laperouse is a jewel box of a restaurant that has been in existence since 1766. Long adored by many of the literary greats that have flocked to the French capital and the fashionable residents of the city, the restaurant is not only know for its haute cuisine but also for its intimate private dining rooms. During the 19th century, couples would meet clandestinely in the famous private salons of Laperouse as to circumvent morality laws. It’s said that the etching on the mirrors in these pretty little rooms came from ladies whose suitors had presented them with diamonds, they would scratch their names in the mirror to make sure that the stone was not actually a simple piece of glass.
