We all have that worn in perfect tee stashed away in the back of our closet, mine was nicked from a good friend when I was in high school. I went to a performing arts high school and was the girly girl who hung out with a bunch of artist guys who had green hair, baggy jeans and worshipped at the alter of Pink Floyd and Jimi Hendrix. It took months of pleading to borrow this shirt from my friend Zach and it was only with the promise of it’s quick return that he finally relented and lent me his favorite t-shirt. 10 years later it’s still in my possession and remains one of my favorites. Paired with Christian Louboutin espadrilles, a Poleci leather and wool blazer, and a Michael Stars hat the shirt has come a long way from its former days of being paired with baggy jeans covered in paint and ink. The text on the shirt comes from a famous quote in Stanley Kubrick’s Full Metal Jacket, Zach and I first bonded over our shared love of this dark but at times both funny and poignant movie.
