The little black dress is another one of those wardrobe staples that kind of go without saying. However, I’m of the mindset that it’s time to update this tried and true item with some contemporary flare. Embrace embellishments, cut-outs, and contrasting colors to give that somewhat tired, but always useful, little black dress a new twist. These photos were taken during my recent Thanksgiving trip to Philadelphia. The location is the always yummy Geno’s Steaks. This is one of those Philadelphia landmarks that is just as much a part of the city’s history as its museums and monuments. Open 24/7, pretty much every celebrity and athlete who has ever come through Philly has stopped by Geno’s for a cheesesteak and has their picture hanging on the wall. While a cocktail dress at Geno’s might seem slightly out of place, you’d be surprised. I’ve had post-prom, post-club, post-white tie gala late night/early morning munchies at Geno’s more than I’d probably like to admit and that goes for countless other Philadelphians as well.
