When I was growing up, once a year my grandmother would take me into New York City to spend the day shopping and going to museums. It was our special quality time with one another and some of my fondest memories of time spent with her were during these yearly trips. Without fail, after finishing at Saks, we would go for afternoon tea at the St. Regis and I would feel terribly grownup as we enjoyed a traditional tea service. Afternoon tea has always been one of my favorite treats. In fact, my fifth birthday was a tea party at the Four Seasons. Darling Husbands says that explains so much. Silly Darling Husband, what does that explain except that I like wearing pretty party dresses and drinking tea…these are two perfectly normal things to enjoy after all. But I digress. After spending a packed two days running between shows and presentations, afternoon tea at the St. Regis with my mum was the perfect way to unwind, honor the memory of a woman who was and still is so influential in my life, and bring my Fashion Week adventure to an end.
