It’s no secret that I love both dresses and black turtlenecks. The humble black turtleneck is one of the most versatile items you can have in your wardrobe. It can so easily be dressed up or down and is an easy piece to reach for when you want to looked polished and fashionable. I consider both of these items to be staples in my wardrobe. And one of my favourite ways to maximize the use of these two items is to pair a summer dress with a turtleneck.
Pairing a summer dress with a turtleneck is a wonderful way to extend the life of your sundresses. It’s a simple styling trick that will expand your wardrobe options and allow you to reach for your favourite summer dresses year round. For a seamless and polished look, I particularly love a black turtleneck bodysuit. Sundresses are typically made of lighter weight materials and the typical cotton, cashmere, or knit turtleneck can end up looking bulky underneath. By opting for a bodysuit style, the piece is formfitting and allows the dress to sit over it much smoother. Swapping out sandals and strappy heels for a beautiful boot is another way to winterize your summer dress style. I love a gorgeous knee-high heeled or riding boot in particular.
I’ve rounded up some great black turtleneck options in the widget below, including the exact bodysuit style one that I’m wearing in this post. This Commando style in particular is one of my most reached for pieces. In fact, I love the black Commando bodysuits so much I have multiple styles from them. The quality is excellent and well worth the price. Happy shopping!
