I’m going to let you in on a little secret: I actually love shopping for madam more than I love shopping for myself. Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing like a new bag to set my heart aflutter, but I absolutely adore picking up beautiful things for madam. From cute yet functional pieces that she can wear for preschool and play, to darling little dresses for special occasions, shopping for her is always so much fun. Just like with my own wardrobe, I like buying a mix of designers and price points. While she is growing quickly and is only able to wear the pieces for so long, I can’t help but occasionally treat her (or I guess myself) to some beautiful investment pieces. As with my own wardrobe, I tend to buy more classic styles when buying something on the pricier side, and I also try to find pieces that can last between seasons so she gets as much wear from them as possible.
Hands down, one of my favorite places to shop for madam is here in Montreal. Les Petits Voyous is a perfectly curated boutique located in the heart of Westmount’s Victoria Village that carries a mix of European and North American brands. Owner Jessica has lovingly, and with such care, sourced both beautiful classic lines and eclectic labels for a perfect mix of the high-end and accessible, as well as the most darling toys, books, and accessories. I personally gravitate towards classic lines like Petite Bateau, a French heritage brand dating back more than 125 years that has the most incredible classic cotton pieces, BONTON, another charming French line that was founded by the son of the owners of Bonpoint, and Tartine et Chocolat, an elegant children’s line that I honestly wish came in my size. However, Les Petits Voyous also carries such fashion favorites as Oeuf NYC, 1+ in the Family, Morley, Bobo Choses, and Go Gently Nation to name just a few. From newborn and layette to pre-teen, Les Petits Voyous carries such a gorgeous selection of pieces for boys and girls. The boutique itself is so incredibly welcoming, both to children and adults alike. Staff is warm and attentive, and Jessica herself frequently pops out from the back room to offer her expert opinion and to chat with the many loyal clients who visit routinely.
A former lawyer with an additional degree in music, Jessica did not have any formal experience in the world of fashion or retail, but she does have a passion and natural eye that has served her very well. It’s quite obvious when visiting Les Petits Voyous that there was much love and thought put into the creation and continued running of the boutique. I couldn’t help but ask Jessica what inspired her to open the boutique. Speaking of her path to Les Petits Voyous she says…
“Les Petits Voyous is more than a shop, it’s the beginning of a new life. In the past, I have not necessarily made good decisions. When I had my son, I told myself that if I wanted to teach him to be happy, I needed to be really happy myself first; them I had an epiphany. Initially, I wanted to start a small website. But when I learned that a great woman in the children’s clothing industry here in Montreal was closing her boutique, I realized that a unique opportunity presented itself to me.
Fashion is my biggest passion; my dream has always been to have a nice shop, but I did not think I could do it at such a young age, especially considering my music and law education. Everything was aligned, everything happened at great speed. My spouse encouraged me to start the project and my parents gave me a lot of support; it is my mother who actually gave me the name Les Petits Voyous. They encouraged me, they supported me and I will be eternally grateful to them. I think, however, that the starting point is really my son. It drives me to want to do beautiful things and want to achieve my dreams.”
For that passion and love that Jessica has put into Les Petits Voyous and the downright swoon worthy selection of beautiful children’s clothing, this jewel-box of a boutique is hands-down one of my favorite places to shop for madam. I’m also so thrilled that it is the newest addition to my shopping guide!
You can shop both online and in-person, happy shopping darlings!
