One of the shows I was most looking forward to was Tanya Taylor‘s Fall 2014 collection. Held off-site at Industria, in the heart of the Meatpacking district, the show drew an impressive and eclectic audience full of fashion insiders and pretty young things. Since showing her first collection, Fall 2012, Ms. Taylor has garnered a devoted following, major accolades, and a well deserved reputation as a young powerhouse in the fashion industry. McGill and Parsons educated (she’s actually a Toronto transplant now based in New York City), Tanya Taylor first honed her skills as a designer for Elizabeth and James before founding her eponymous line in 2011. Here’s the kicker darlings, she did all of this before turning 30. At 28, Forbes has named her as one of the 30 Under 30 in the Art and Style category.
In keeping with her commitment to producing feminine, contemporary, and sophisticated pieces with a hint of playfulness, Taylor showed a totally swoon-worthy collection filled with gems. I could seriously wax poetic about the gorgeous metallic floral print trench and floral print dress with a peter-pan collar pictured above. As for the white skirt and matched top with delicate little black dots…I think I’ve had dreams about this one. Wearable yet still fashion-forward and creative, this collection much like her previous ones, will only further cement Tanya Taylor as a fashionable force to be reckoned with.
