While the streets of Montreal might be covered with snow, I’m counting down the days until I can ditch the snow boots and wellies in favour of the footwear nestled inside the tower of pink boxes in my wardrobe. Thankfully, I recently had the Pretty Ballerinas Spring/Summer 2019 preview to tide me over until the day I can don my Pretty Ballerinas once more. My love obsession with this Spanish line of handmade shoes is no secret. In fact I’d hazard to say that you’re all quite aware that the Westmount boutique is a bit of a home away from home for me. Even madam loves visiting this jewel box of a boutique and the gorgeous wares inside. As soon as she sees the storefront, she goes running towards the front door.
As always, the press preview allowed me to discover what the new season will bring so that I can share an early look at the collection with you guys. Admittedly, it also gives me the chance to put together my shopping list for the coming season. Needless to say, my 2019 Spring/Summer list is a long one. The coming season is nothing short of pure perfection!
With the newest face of Pretty Ballerinas being Princess of Olympia of Greece, the line has even launched a brand new style. The “Olympia” is a chic open-toed slide inspired by Princess Olympia’s Greek heritage and is done in a stunning gold interwoven leather. Another new addition to the line is an update to their wildly popular sides (I might own 6 versions of this very style) that is done with a heel. Rest assured, the botanical print pair with gradient red tassels pictured above will be number 7 in my personal collection of Pretty Ballerinas slides. And lest you think these are just pretty shoes, Pretty Ballerinas are also incredibly comfortable, and thanks to their latest incarnation of the brand favourite Rosario style, they’re now even more so! They feature 4mm cushioned memory foam interior soles that are more flexible and reduces impact, no heel stiffeners to be softer on the heel, and rubber soles with micro air pockets, so they’re as comfy as they are beautiful.
I’ll let these photos of the Spring/Summer 2019 mostly speak for themselves, but a quick note on key trends and styles. A summer staple that Pretty Ballerinas continues to reinvent, nautical inspired flats are shown with a dainty pointed toe and sweet little bows. Other key trends and finishings are mesh, ankle ties, animal print, sequins, hi-shine, Japanese inspired embroidery, camouflage, vinyl, and feathers. I have no doubt that this collection (honestly, like all of their other collections) will be wildly popular and you’ll want to scoop up your favourite pairs before they sell out. The collection will be filtering into store beginning around February. Happy shopping darlings!
