The final show that I’ll be recapping from my time at New York Fashion Week is the Lacoste F/W 15 runway presentation. Held at Lincoln Center, the show was elaborately staged on a set that evoked a feeling of being on a court. The collection was a mixed homage to the characters of Wes Anderson’s The Royal Tenenbaums and the brands founder, Rene Lacoste. Shirts were emblazoned with “Rene Did It First” as a cheeky nod to the iconic labels founder and his simple shirt design that launched a fashion powerhouse. Not simply focusing on sportswear, Lacoste’s current designer Felipe Oliveira Baptista predominately featured elegant outerwear. These newer additions to the line paired beautifully with the tennis inspired separates that are the hallmarks of the brand. After the show, I had the pleasure and privilege of visiting the Lacoste showroom to see the collection right off the runway. The pieces were even more wonderful in person with the stunning grey tennis dress and long vest pictured above being a personal favorite and my standout look from the collection.
