Runway Report: CHANEL Spring-Summer 2020 Beauty Look

October 11, 2019

While she might be the queen of color, CHANEL’s Global Creative Makeup and Color designer Lucia Pica has created fresh-faced perfection with her latest beauty look for the CHANEL Spring-Summer 2020 Ready-to-Wear show.

Skin was clean and luminous, almost appearing to glow from within with a natural radiance. It made for a sun kissed look that hinted at a lazy day spent lounging in the Jardin du Luxembourg or lingering over a cafe creme and a good book on a terrace. Lips had the lightest hint of color but with a touch of gloss that mimicked the radiance of the skin. As for the eyes, a swipe of OMBRE PREMIÈRE LAQUE – N°26 Quartz Rose across the lids gave a delicate hint of shimmering color that paired beautifully with natural groomed lashes and a hint of mascara.

This simple fresh and elegant beauty look is one of my favourites to date. It was beautiful on the various complexions of the models and is quite easy to translate from runway to real life. Its wearability is a testament to the beauty of the modern CHANEL woman and one that I cannot wait to emulate. I can guarantee that I’ll be scooping up these products and copying these looks for sure. I can’t wait until OMBRE PREMIÈRE LAQUE – N°26 Quartz Rose is released in particular. If this creme shadow is any indication of the beauty of the rest of the collection, we’re in for some seriously stunning new creations by Lucia Pica for CHANEL BEAUTY!

Scroll down for a full break down of products used and for an interview with Lucia Pica detailing her thoughts on the look as well as tips and tricks!

What were your sources of inspiration for this makeup? What brief did Virginie Viard give you?

The vibe of the show is the Nouvelle Vague. The girls are walking on the roof top of Paris. Virginie wantedthe girls to look super fresh. It’s really about the luminosity and transparency of the skin with a little color on the lips. I tried to exaggerate all these features with the makeup.

Can you describe the fashion show makeup?

To create the exaggeration of the naturality of the skin, I added the new bronzy BAUME ESSENTIEL Golden Light* across the bridge of the nose and the cheekbones. I added freckles too! All this created the illusion of a sun kissed look.

On the eyelids, I used a liquid eyeshadow coming out in Spring, OMBRE PREMIÈRE LAQUE in Quartz Rose*. I concentrated it in the center of the eyelids and then I used BAUME ESSENTIEL Transparent on the top of it.

On the lips I used ROUGE ALLURE LIQUID POWDER Radical, an orangy-red which I applied in the middle of them and I gradually blended it out. On top of it, I added ROUGE COCO GLOSS Crystal Clear** for a transparent sparkling result.

Do you have any professional tips and tricks to share with us?

What I tried to do is to replicate the feeling of a girl who has just eaten a strawberry. So, I put ROUGE ALLURE LIQUID POWDER Radical, right in the middle of the lips and blending out into nothing to the edges of the lips and to accentuate that a little bit more, I put concealer on the outer edges of the mouth. It’slike the color is bleeding out to the outer edges of the mouth.

Is there a product that you particularly enjoyed using for this makeup look?

I loved using the bronze balm BAUME ESSENTIEL Golden Light!

I enjoy long walks through Neiman Marcus, red soled shoes, skinny black pants, oversized cocktail rings, obnoxious bows, nipped waists and full skirts.
