Runway Report: CHANEL Cruise 2017/18 Beauty Look

As promised in my Runway Report on the CHANEL 2017/18 Cruise Collection, here is my love letter to the beauty look from the show:

The hair and makeup were, in my opinion, a beautiful interpretation of classical Greek beauty. Hair was loose and feminine, framing the face and appearing as if windswept by the salty air coming off the Aegean Sea. Monsieur Lagerfeld completed this part of the beauty look by crowning models with elegant hair adornments perfectly reminiscent of the headbands and diadems favored by women in the ancient Greek world.

Women of the era also utilized cosmetics which were crafted from natural materials they found in the rich Greek landscape. Berries were used to bring a rosy hue to cheeks and to stain lips while skin had a healthy glow thanks to the application of olive oil. This favored beauty ideal of Classical Greece translated seamlessly to the runway through the makeup look created for this collection. Models had a luminous glow about them with richly underlined eyes, bold brows, and subtly tinted lips.

The entire beauty look from the CHANEL 2017/18 Cruise Collection has been one of my favorite to date. It not only perfectly complemented and highlighted the collection without overpowering the garments, it is stunning on its own. It could easily translate to everyday wear by toning down the eye liner ever so slightly or even worn as is for an evening event.
