This first show that I took in at Lincoln Center during my whirlwind trip to New York Fashion Week was BCBGMAXAZRIA. While I’ve previously attended New York Fashion Week, it was ages ago when the shows were still housed at Bryant Park and my experience wasn’t nearly as fabulous and front row as with my attendance at the BCBGMAXAZRIA show on Thursday morning. After being ushered to my seat, I enjoyed some quality people watching while waiting for the show to start. Soon enough the plastic was removed from the pristine white runway, music started pulsing, and the first model came walking down the runway. Rarely do I come across a collection where I would wear every single piece… Normally there’s at least one or two items that are total misses. That is as far from the truth with the Spring 2014 collection that Max and Lubov Azria presented. The husband and wife duo behind the iconic brand has created a beautifully cohesive collection that is both fashion forward and wearable. With classic draping and tailoring, dreamy abstract watercolor prints, luxe embroidery, and playful sheer panels, the collection is a perfect balance between the masculine and the feminine. Darling Husband be warned, my wish list of items to pick up is pretty long with the multiple maxi dresses sent down the runway leading the pack.
