Real Style with Laura Di Ioia

March 17, 2013

Darlings, meet Laura. Laura, meet my amazing readers. I’ve decided to start a new feature on the blog where I’ll be featuring some of the fabulous individuals that I come across and Laura graciously accepted my invitation to be the first subject of this new series. From the first time I met Laura, I fell in love with her style. Not only does she fall firmly in the natural beauty camp, but she possesses that effortless sort of style that is innate and seems to be found mostly in the fashion and beauty industry. It makes sense that she’s a former fashion girl, having even been an accessories designer, and now co-owns Montreal’s premiere blowdry bar with her equally fashionable sister. Whenever I pop in to Baristas, I always look forward to seeing what amazing accessories Laura is wearing that day. She has a serious knack for finding some  majorly lust worthy pieces that no one else has.

So I heard you and your sister have a really fabulous business, fill us in!
Baristas is Westmount’s  first blowdry suite. It is a lady’s cove where women can come relax, laugh all the while getting stunning hair. We are more than just hair, it is about the experience, the energy, the detail.
What inspires your outfit choices?
Mostly my mood. I can go from a totally sophisticated, shift dress, to oversized sweatshirts and bf jeans. Anything that is bold, wild and out of the ordinary is what inspires my style.

How would you describe your style?
I would say my style is bold and speaks for itself. I love putting together pieces that don’t make sense.  It is about being different; when I see too many people wearing a certain trend, I tend to…” drop it like its hot lol”, I don’t really like following the crowd.
Who are you favorite designers?
Designers are not really my thing. I like wearing pieces or brands people haven’t seen or heard of yet. When I go shopping in NYC or Paris I try to find undercover stores and shops that not everyone knows about.

Where do you like to shop?
Joe Fresh (my hidden secret), Club Monaco (great basics), and mostly when I’m out of town!!
What are you currently lusting over?
Oversized sweatshirts…awwww
Style icons?
Random people with cool street style.

I enjoy long walks through Neiman Marcus, red soled shoes, skinny black pants, oversized cocktail rings, obnoxious bows, nipped waists and full skirts.
