I recently had a conversation with a girlfriend over the concept of the sitting vs. standing heel. My friend informed me that with her first pair of Louboutins the heel snapped one of her first times she wore them. Of course she called the boutique to see what they had to say on the matter and she was promptly informed that the shoes weren’t really meant for walking. Rather, her shoes were “soirée shoes” and were more suited to sitting. We all have that pair of heels (or two…or three…) that really aren’t the best for actually walking in. They’re probably totally stunning and you might have overpaid for them a tiny bit, but they’re really not that comfortable or all that easy to walk in. They are however, one of your favorite pairs and seem to go beautifully with so many items in your closet. Maybe you purchased them for a special occasion, or maybe you purchased them because they were so pretty. I have more then a few pairs of this type of heel and have on more than one occasion uttered the honestly rather ridiculous sentence…”Darling, these shoes really aren’t meant for walking.” To which, Darling Fiance typically responds with a look of total confusion (the same look he’s giving me now…!). Ah, the things we do for fashion.
