Gabrielle Chanel adored pearls famously saying that “a woman needs ropes and ropes of pearls.” She incorporated them into the bijoux she created for her eponymous line and they quickly became part of the CHANEL universe. Since then, the House has continued to utilize them season after season making them synonymous with CHANEL. Inspired by the ropes of pearls that Mademoiselle adored, as well as white and pink Japanese Akoya pearls and the deep aubergine tone of Tahitian pearls, The CHANEL Makeup Creation Studio has unveiled the PERLES ET ÉCLATS DE CHANEL collection.
To accompany the PERLES ET ÉCLATS DE CHANEL collection, the CHANEL Makeup Creation Studio has created a unique application technique that plays with light by applying thin layers of the the products called Pearly Glow that is detailed below.
For the complexion, there is the absolutely gorgeous rosy champagne shimmer PERLES DE LUMIÈRE highlighting powder. A collection exclusive, it is beautifully embossed with the iconic double C encircled by pearls as a nod to the House’s signature button design. It has a beautiful creamy texture and can be swept over the entire face for an illuminating highlight that makes the wearer look like they’re glowing from within. CHANEL has added two new shades to their wildly popular BAUME ESSENTIEL. This cream based stick glides onto the skin with total ease sculpting and illuminating the complexion. Printanier is a sheer fresh pink and Perlescent imitates the soft glimmer of pearls.
For the eyes, three is LES 4 OMBRES 374 Allure et Éclat. A rosy hued quad that is feminine perfection. The colours are totally harmonious and are done in two shades of scintillating white tones (one very crisp and pure and the other with fine rosy pearly particles) as well as a peachy pink and coppery eggplant. They can easily be worn independently or layered together. The two lighter shades are perfect for dabbing at the brow bone or inner corner of the eye to bring an extra radiance and light to the eye. Additionally, there are two new shades of the STYLO OMBRE ET CONTOUR. Beige Perlé is a light bronze brown that can even be used as an eyeshadow base. Burgundy Perlé is a metallic coppery rosewood that works as beautifully as rich eyeliner as it does a smokey shadow.
For lips, the tones offered in the PERLES ET ÉCLATS DE CHANEL collection are all beautiful pinks and come in expert creamy formulations that glide effortlessly onto the lips. ROUGE COCO 498 Éclat is a classic and totally timeless fresh pink that gives a beautiful brightness to the lips. ROUGE COCO 496 Tendresse is a warm and radiant peachy pink that adds richness to the lips. ROUGE ALLURE 192 Profondeur is a luminous orangey rosewood. And finally, ROUGE COCO FLASH 154 Douceur is the ultimate top coat. A pearly ivory pink it layers perfectly, but looks just as beautiful on its own giving the lips a beautiful subtle shine.
Finally, for nails there are two new shades. LE VERNIS 891 Perle Burgundy is a rich opalescent coppery rosewood with an iridescent shimmer, while LE VERNIS 889 Perle Blanche is a pearly white with the most stunning shimmering effect that can be used on its own or as a top coat.
1. ILLUMINATE THE COMPLEXION
Sweep the PERLES DE LUMIÈRE powder over the cheekbones, temples, forehead, nose, Cupid’s bow and chin or anywhere else on the face where you would like to catch the light. Use the tip of the included brush on smaller areas and the flat side to blend and work in the product. Alternatively: dust several layers of powder over the entire face with a powder brush or kabuki brush, depending on the desired level of radiance.
2. REVEAL A PEARLY GLOW
Using either your fingertips or the RETRACTABLE HIGHLIGHTER BRUSH N°111, layer BAUME ESSENTIEL Perlescent on top of the PERLES DE LUMIÈRES powder for a high-shine, pearly finish. This hydrating balm can also be used by itself on the lips and eyelids for a wet effect.
3. FOCUS ON DETAILS
Light up the eyes with the pearly eyeshadows from the LES 4 OMBRES 374 Allure et Éclat palette. Using the applicator, layer the two pinks, the peachy pink and the illuminating rosy white on the entire eyelid. Then, blend up to the brow bone to work the shade into the skin. Use the aubergine shade along the base of the upper lashes and, without adding more product, glide the brush along the base of the lower lashes to shade the eyes. For an even more sophisticated result, apply the pure white shade as a top coat on the center of the eyelid and the inner corner of the eye. Finish off with INIMITABLE EXTRÊME 10 Noir Pur mascara to give definition to the eyes and extend the lashes.
