Happy Fashion Week darlings! Things are in full swing here in Montreal. I’m balancing my first week back to school and my first Montreal Fashion Week all at the same time. I’ve been spoiled, I attended New York Fashion Week before and saw some amazing shows, so I had pretty high expectations for Montreal. I’m excited to report that those expectations were very well met and then some! The 21st edition of Semaine Mode opened Tuesday night and thanks to the lovely Patricia at 1Milk2Sugars and Rowenta, I had a pretty amazing seat for the Melissa Nepton show that evening. I love the vibe before the start of fashion shows, the air is so electric with anticipation for the coming presentation and that was the case before the Melissa Nepton show. Melissa is a young designer based here in Quebec but she is already garnering some major attention and her line is carried in numerous boutiques throughout Quebec and Ontario. The pieces she sent down the runway were all cut from a dreamy, neutral color pallette and exhibited Melissa’s fine attention to draping and construction. Clean, minimal makeup and hair allowed for the attention to be drawn solely to the clothing. The feel of the collection was etherial and futuristic all at once. Many of her pieces are perfect for layering and I look forward to working some of her pieces into my already overstuffed wardrobe. A big thank you to 1Milk2Sugars and Rowenta for a wonderful first night of Montreal Fashion Week…here’s to night two!
