I’ve always loved all things pretty and fashionable, but it was probably when I first started watching Sex and the City that I truly feel in love with ludicrously over-priced footwear. From that first episode on, I coveted a closet and shoe collection just like Carrie Brandshaw. Junior year of high school, my parents finally caved and bought be my first pairs of designer shoes. It started with Prada, quickly moved on to Mr. Blahnik, and only a few short years later, I was a university student and buying my first pair of Louboutins. In addition to my love of pricey footwear, Sex and the City also turned me on to one of my favorite beach read authors, Candice Bushnell. I was still in university in Washington D.C. when Candace Bushnell started her publicity tour for the book 4 Blondes. One of the stops on her publicity tour was my university where she gave an intimate reading for the sorority girls on campus. Needless to say, I was one excited little co-ed. Other girls brought copies of books to be signed during the meet and greet that was to be held after the reading. I brought a pair of Manolo Blahniks. Candace Bushnell was humoured to say the least, and happily signed the sole of one of the shoes.
