As a source of inspiration, LES CHAÎNES D’OR DE CHANEL, CHANEL’s Holiday 2020 collection by the House’s Global Creative Make Up and Colour Designer, Lucia Pica, in collaboration with the Makeup Creation Studio looks to one of CHANEL’s most iconic symbols, the gold chain. Regarding the collection, Pica notes “by accentuating a classic symbol of the House and exploring all of its facets, I infuse these existing ideas and images with a new energy, a new spirit.” Festive in the richness of its colours and their scintillating shimmer, LES CHAÎNES D’OR DE CHANEL is both elegant and striking.
For the face, there is LES CHAÎNES DE CHANEL. This beautiful satiny copper pink Illuminating Blush Powder was truly made for the holiday season. A seasonal exclusive, this pressed powered is embossed with the chain motif that inspired LES CHAÎNES D’OR DE CHANEL. Pica notes, “This magnificent illuminating powder with a satiny effect offers a sumptuous burst of radiance. It illuminates the skin, attracts light on prominent areas of the face and provides a natural, pure, and translucent rosy effect on the cheeks.” She suggests adding a hint of this powder to the chin, temples, and brow bone to add colour and shine. It also helps to freshen up the eyes. For those looking to add extra radiance, it can be layered over more intense and deeper blush colours.
For eyes, there are four OMBRE PREMIÈRE Powders that are exclusive to the collection as well as being embossed with the chain motif. Or Antique is a luminous antique gold, Or Blanc, a platinum, Cuivre Rose, a warm coppery pink, and Cuir Brun, an intense khaki brown. Soft and buildable, these incredible eye shadows are beautifully pigmented and glide on the eyelid with total ease. For these beautiful eye shadows, Pica recommends “Creating contrasting effects or tone-on- tone harmonies by combining them. Use the dark shade to define the eyes and deepen the eyelid crease and the lighter shades to enhance them.”
As for lips, there are four exclusive ROUGE ALLURE shades that are downright sumptuous. Or Beige is a gold-specked caramel beige, Or Cuivré, a gold-specked brick red, Rouge d’Or, a radiant gold-specked red, and Pourpre d’Or, a scintillating plum. These stunning shades are so perfect formulated and richly pigmented that they slide onto the lips with a creamy smoothness and bold colouring. Lips are left soft and beautifully adorned with rich colour.
Finally, for nails there is Chaîne d’Or. This antique gold is quite literally liquid gold for one’s nails. Expertly formulated, it is long-wearing and packs major shine.
