This past Sunday was spent in Laval visiting with Darling Boyfriend’s grandmother. I think one of the reasons I enjoy going to visit with her is because it reminds me so much of visiting with my own grandmother before she passed away. Just like my own grandmother, Darling Boyfriend’s grandmother is an amazing cook with a serious green thumb. I have so many vivid memories of my grandmother planting in her garden and cooking up a storm in her kitchen, all the while perfectly styled. A meal at her home was always an affair, with a carefully planned menu and a gorgeously presented table. I was required to always try a bite of everything before I had the chance to pretend not to like something and thanks to her I became a pretty adventurous eater. The necklace that I am wearing in these pictures belonged to her. She picked it up in Italy while traveling through Europe and is meant to ward off evil.
