So I’m going to let all of you in on a not so secret secret, I’m a huge nerd when it comes to music. Not the type of music nerd who knows about the soon to be coolest emerging artists or the entire catalog of insert hipster band name here pre and post commercial sellout but rather the type who had more classical music CDs then the usual crap one listens to in high school for most of my teenage years. I’ll up the ante even higher…add a healthy dose of Broadway and standards and you have a large chunk of my ITunes playlist. This has lead to a slight impasse when it comes to Darling Boyfriend and I, the sound of a Soprano hitting a high note makes his ears bleed and it makes my heart flutter. Give me Debussy, Pucci and Gershwin over the legion of pop-tarts who are popular any day. That being said, he’s a wonderful guy who knows how much I love a good night out at the opera. This past week Darling Boyfriend scored some major points by treating my to a performance of La Boheme that was wonderful and even ended up enjoying himself.
