Montreal is a city full of amazing restaurants. I’m engaged to a Greek guy from a big Greek family who love nothing more then making delicious foods and in abundance. I cannot contemplate a life without brie and cheeseburgers, sometimes even at the same time. These factors, plus the fact that I spend my days in class and with my nose in the books rather than going to the gym lead me to consider doing a juice cleanse. I’ve had girlfriends who have cleansed before and had always heard good things about the systems that are available in abundance in the States. They reported extra energy, some saw an improvement in their complexions, and all of them reported that they felt healthier and that their jeans fit a little better. When I clicked about the internet, I found JusCleanse and it’s lovely founder Alysia as the solution to my juice cleanse desires. With a juice cleanse you replace solid food with fresh pressed juices for the duration of your cleanse. These just aren’t any juices though. The juices that make up the cleanse are formulated to meet all of your nutritional requirements and are chock full of super healthy ingredients that do your body really, really good. The juice recipes are all balanced to make sure that each ingredient is providing its optimum amount of nutrients to you and in the proper manner. With juicing, you’re basically drinking your meal every two hours so you never let your body feel deprived or hungry. Additionally, you’re drinking as much water and herbal tea as you’d like. For my first experience with cleansing, I chose the 3 day seasonal option. The seasonal option meant that I would drink three Pur Green juices (celery, kale, cucumber, romaine, parsley, lemon, and apple), one Lemon Zing (lemon, cayenne pepper, pure Canadian maple syrup, and filtered water) , one Rouge juice (apple, beets, carrot, ginger, and lemon), and end my day with a big bowl of hot Miso soup. One of my main concerns with cleansing was that I would feel like I was seriously lacking in the energy department and that my blood sugar would crash like when I eat lunch to late. Darling Fiance can attest to the fact that I become one very cranky little fashionista if I am not fed regularly. However, this did not once occur during the cleanse. In fact my energy levels were great and my tummy never grumbled. I’m not going to lie, I didn’t love watching Darling Fiance enjoy big plates of yummy Greek food for dinner as I was sipping away, but it really wasn’t that bad because I actually felt full. I might have missed chewing but I never once felt I was being deprived of food. As for taste, I love my veggies so this wasn’t a problem at all for me. In fact, I actually really enjoyed the flavors of the juices. The Lemon Zing was hands down my favorite – it was like drinking a great glass of fresh squeezed lemonade with a kick. For someone who might not be the biggest fan of veggies, it might take a day to get used to the new flavors but I have no doubt that you’ll come around to really enjoying them. One of the best features of JusCleanse was Alysia. She delivered the fresh squeezed juices directly to my doorstep the night before I started the cleanse and stayed to explain everything I would want or need to know about what was in store for me. Alysia also thoughtfully provides her cell phone and email number to her clients to act as a dedicated help line if you have any questions or concerns during your cleanse. She also made a point of checking in with me to make sure my cleanse went well which I found very thoughtful and kind. I plan on doing at least two more rounds of cleansing leading up to my September wedding. My results were totally positive, I found that I had a great energy level, my skin looked great, and honestly, my jeans do fit a little bit better. The results were not drastic but rather healthy and controlled. JusCleanse is a great way to kick start eating healthier or dipping your toes in to the world of vegan or organic. I had a great experience with JusCleanse and would recommend it happily. If you want to find out more about JusCleanse or look into doing one yourself, make sure to check out Alysia’s highly informative site. Since the crux of the cleanse is that everything is super fresh, her service is only offered in the Montreal area only. For my non-Montreal area readers who might be interested in cleansing, feel free to shoot me an email and I can possibly recommend some options for you elsewhere.
