For the House’s first in-person presentation since February 2020, Gucci’s Alessandro Michele took the legendary Italian luxury house to one of America’s most famous streets. Held on the famed Hollywood Boulevard, the Gucci Love Parade was a celebration of fabulous escapism. House friends and ambassadors like Jared Leto, Jody Turner-Smith, St.Vincent, and Macaulay Culkin walked the runway while stars like Miley Cyrus, Lizzo, and Gwnyeth Paltrow were in attendance. Paltrow even donned the iconic Tom Ford for Gucci red velvet suit she wore for the 1996 MTV Music Video Awards that was remade for the Gucci Spring 2022 collection by Michele. Paltrow further gave a nod to this iconic 90s fashion moment by pairing the suit with a plunging blue button-up and clean beauty look almost identical to the original styling.
With references to Old Hollywood glamour, 90s grunge, iconic costume design moments from the silver screen, and Prairie style, the Gucci Love Parade collection is a maximalists dream come true. Featuring bold prints and patterns mixed with a multitude of fabrications and textures, the collection is downright opulent. Over the top in all of the best ways, the pieces, particularly the gowns, are fantastical creations that beg for red carpet moments. In fact, Lady Gaga, who stars as Patrizia Reggiani in the hotly anticipated House of Gucci film donned the diaphanous sheer purple pleated evening gown on the most recent red carpet for the film.
2021 marks the House of Gucci’s centenary and has been marked by a parade of scene-stealing collections From Alessandra Michele for Gucci. The Gucci Love Parade collection is a sumptuous and rather delightfully riotous culmination of Michele’s vision for this historic House in its hundredth year.
