My mother’s family came to the United States from Russia around the turn of the 19th century so when I saw Karl Lagerfeld’s 2009 pre-fall “Paris-Moscow” collection for Chanel I knew it was my cultural responsibility to own a piece of this stunning collection. At least that’s what I convinced myself when I decided to indulge in a new Chanel bag… I know, so convincing. My ability to justify shopping is a little legendary, even when it comes to shopping with others… just ask the Frenchman. We nipped over to Holt Renfrew the other day to “just look” for him and not an hour later the charming salesman was thanking him for his rather large purchase. Anyway, back to the subject at hand…the gloriousness of the “Paris-Moscow” collection. All the bags were beyond gorgeous but I decided to go with this great tote style that showcases the famous onion domes of Russia. I’m a big fan of the James Bond movies and with this look I wanted to bring out my inner Bond Girl, I’ve named her Dominika in case you’re wondering. She enjoys long drives in a bullet proof Bentley, generous servings of Beluga caviar, and oversized diamonds. It’s martini time now, remember dahhhlings…shaken, not stirred.
