I’ve had the pleasure of staying at the Four Seasons Hotel Toronto several times over the past few years. My most recent stay, just two weeks ago, was not only my first time back to this stunning property since COVID, but my first stay at any hotel since lockdown measures have started easing in Canada. With their well-deserved reputation for excellence and incredible service, I knew that while the visit might be slightly different thanks to their COVID measures, it would be no less luxurious. Needless to say, I was not disappointed.
In honour of my dear friend’s 36th birthday, a small group of us checked into the Four Seasons Hotel Toronto for weekend of relaxation and pampering. The beautifully appointed rooms were elegant yet totally welcoming. Featuring a neutral colour palette and refined design elements like chinoiserie inspired upholstered walls, the rooms are serene and lend themselves to a restful stay. Crisp white sheets and feather pillows dress the bed while plush white robes hang in the bathroom. As for the bathrooms, they’re the stuff of hotel dreams. With a deep soaking tub as well as a high-powered rain shower, they give you a spa like experience in the comfort of your own room. Appointed with luxury personal care items, they even feature a tv seamlessly placed inside the large vanity mirror for a high-tech finish.
A visit to the Four Seasons Hotel Toronto is never complete without a visit to their incredible spa. I’ve previously had both superb massages and facials at this location, and was incredible impressed. For this visit, I indulged in a massage that was just as amazing as previous visits. At the moment, it appears that facial services have been placed on hold, but a MedSpa component is slated to open in September that will offer everything from injectables and botox, to chemical peels and facial treatments. Even with the slightly reduced Spa menu, there are still a wide range of treatments to indulge in. Additionally, the property’s absolutely stunning pool is open to a limited number of guests at a time.
Being located in the heart of tony Yorkville, the Four Seasons Toronto is a short walk to some of Toronto’s best shopping and restaurants. The concierge was able to secure us prime dinner reservations at two of our top restaurant choices. While we dined out both nights of our stay, we did enjoy delicious breakfasts at Café Boulud, the hotel’s stunning French bistro inspired restaurant under the direction of the celebrated Chef Daniel Boulud.
I would be remiss in not sharing the numerous precautions that the hotel is taking in light of COVID. There are sanitation stations throughout the property, and masks are required in all public areas of the hotel. For guests who might have forgotten this oh so important accessory, there are disposable ones readily available throughout the property. To enter the Four Seasons Hotel Toronto, you must do so at one main entrance where you are temperature checked and asked a series of COVID specific health questions before you may enter. Once you have done this, you are given the sticker of the day to place on your cellphone or like item that changes daily to denote that you have gone through the appropriate measures to enter the hotel and move about the property. Each day, if you leave and return to the hotel you are required to do another temperature check and receive the updated sticker of the day. Social distancing is in place throughout, guests are appropriately spaced throughout the restaurant allowing for comfort and peace of mind. In the spa and pool, these measures are also highly respected. Both the staff of the spa and guests remained masked at all times and one most fill out a COVID specific health questionnaire in addition to the general health form when checking into the spa. And I must say, my massage was so wonderful that I totally forgot I was wearing a mask during it.
While this visit to the Four Seasons Hotel Toronto looked a bit different from my previous visits, I was no less impressed with the incredible quality of the hotel and its dedicated staff. Thanks to their extreme care and professionalism, I never once felt uncomfortable or unsafe, but also never felt that their commitment to providing a luxury experience wavered at all. I must say, if this is what luxury travel looks like in the age of COVID, I’m pretty comfortable with it.
