I’d like to introduce you to two things that I really love, my poodle and colour blocking. Meet Nikki….8lbs of blond fluff who enjoys sleeping under the covers, being carried, and licking my computer as I type this. She’s a fashionista in her own right, I’m not one of those crazy dog owners ( ok…maybe slightly) who forces their dog into clothing. Nikki actually get’s excited when I pull out an outfit, she twirls in circles and lays down so I can dress her. Needless to say, we’re made for each other.
As for colour blocking, it’s another one of this seasons trends that I’m loving. The idea behind it is to combine two or more colours for a bold look that really pops. For those who are a little bit more adventurous, try colours that are close to one another like reds and pinks. Colour blocking isn’t a new concept to the fashion world but it’s just starting to catch on again. To achieve this look I went vintage, opting for a classic example of colour blocking in this gorgeous brown and cream silk Rodrigues for Peter Clements dress from the 60s.
I have to give credit to Kristina from who came up with the great idea Bloggers Do it Better, a sort of fashionable call to action for fashion bloggers that inspired this post. Check out the rest of the fabulous participants at www.PrettyShinySparkly.com.
I finished the look of with brown tights, nude Brian Atwood pumps, a vintage pearl necklace and cocktail ring…and of course, a blond poodle named Nikki.
