With a return to the Grand Palais in Paris following significant restoration work made possible by CHANEL and their patronage, the House unveiled the CHANEL Spring/Summer 2025 Ready-to-Wear collection. Under the staggering glass nave of this iconic Parisian building, a towering open birdcage was erected. With its elegant, graceful lines and fantastical size, this monumental structure set the tone for a collection imbued with a sense of freedom, femininity, and playful elegance.
The CHANEL Creation Studio honored so many of the House’s iconic codes with this collection while still infusing a freshness to the pieces. A dreamy color palette of pretty pastels and whimsical feather prints played beautifully against classic CHANEL tones of black, white, and beige. Oversized bijoux were the perfect foil to the downright etherealness of the the feather detailing that featured on many a piece. As for bags and shoes, two very popular commodities for the House, there was an abundance of gorgeous styles. Shoes were a fun take on the CHANEL classic two-tone as well as tweed options to perfectly match certain looks. For bags, there were many stunning takes on classic styles, as well as exciting seasonal styles that included spectacular minaudieres.
The CHANEL Spring/Summer 2025 collection is a tribute to women who freed themselves from the cumbersome gaze of society, just like Gabrielle Chanel. This flight is dedicated to them. We think of music-hall artist and literary figure Colette, to whom Gabrielle Chanel was a close friend, the garçonne movement that marked the Roaring Twenties, but also the aviatrixes who spoke out and helped change mentalities. Aviator jackets with Peter Pan collars, flight suits in black or white faille, suits with tone-on-tone tie-shape inserts, uniform dresses with white collars, total looks in pink or blue tweed, pastel knits, black skirt knitted as a tribute to the architecture of the venue and sparkling platform shoes: a wind of freedom blows through the collection.
This was a collection showcasing the very best of CHANEL Ready-to-Wear. Demi couture finishings and elements, sumptuous luxe tweeds and delicate light as air chiffons, and so many looks that will transition beautifully from the runway to the boutique. Needless to say, I can’t wait to see this season launch in store!
