It might still be just slightly above freezing here in Montreal but we are inching closer and closer to summer and those gorgeous days that make me love living in this beautiful city. Thankfully, CHANEL has also recently released their Plein Soleil 2016 collection and it’s also helping take the edge of this seemingly never-ending winter. The collection begs for balmy days and sunshine that lasts beyond 5pm, maybe even a jaunt to somewhere with an even warmer and sunnier clime.
Drawing from two beloved motifs of the house, the CHANEL Plein Soleil 2016 collection features chain detailing and two-tone coloring. These hallmarks are reinterpreted through a playful balance of light and shade. For the glasses that play on two-tone shading, inspiration was drawn from tie-dye motifs resulting in dreamy color combinations of grey, blue, and green in addition to the classic black and white, black and beige, and black and burgundy. Frames are done in the oval and cat-eye style as well as the extra-large and square shape making for pieces that are perfect for the beach or the city.
The classic chain detailing that can be found woven throughout the history and past season’s of the house of CHANEL was re-imagined in a more androgynous style for this season’s optical collection. Featuring matte or shiny ruthenium, silver and gold, and done in a palette of crystalline and translucent colors of tortoiseshell, fawn, green, blue, and grey, the frames that make up this segment of the Plein Soleil collection are the perfect balance of the masculine and the feminine. The optical frames are done in cat-eye and square shapes while the sunglasses feature a retro-round or butterfly frame.
Now who’s ready for a trip to Saint Tropez?
