To round out my coverage of the most recent MÉTIERS D’ART collection from CHANEL, I wanted to give you a closer look at the CHANEL MÉTIERS D’ART 2020/21 Beauty Look. Created by the House’s Global Creative Makeup and Global Color designer Lucia Pica, it was a bold and graphic take on the classic smokey eye. Speaking of her inspiration, Pica notes that “The collection embodies the Renaissance spirit. It is a very modern interpretation of strong women owning their power. The makeup is graphic and strong, it exaggerates the eyes into a bigger, wider shape. The look emphasizes black and matte on the eyes with clear shiny lips and a blurry matte skin.”
While Pica is know for her expert and fearless use of colour, the look she created for the CHANEL MÉTIERS D’ART 2020/21 shows that a simple colour palette is quite striking in itself. The beauty look proves to be the perfect foil to the intricate and sumptuous garments and accessories that make up the collection.
