Unveiled for the first time at the recent Spring-Summer 2022 Ready-To-Wear show, the CHANEL 22 is the latest bag created under the direction of Virginie Viard since she assumed the role of Creative Director of the House of CHANEL. Following in the footsteps of the wildly popular CHANEL 19 bag, the CHANEL 22 bag is named for both the year of its creation but also for its association with numerology found within the CHANEL universe. 22 holds a special place in the world of CHANEL, it was in 1922 that the House launched its second fragrance N°22.
Made in a gorgeous supple yet resistant leather and done in three sizes (small, medium, and large) plus a backpack style, the 22 is intended to combine simplicity and comfort in one elegant design. Perfect for everyday use, it is worn over the shoulder and gives the wearer freedom of movement thanks to its intelligent design. It closes with a magnetic button and features a purse-like drawstring, interior zipped pocket and comes with a removable pouch that is held in place by a snap hook. Not only is the name of the bag rooted deeply in this history and codes of CHANEL, so too is the design. It features quilted leather and metal chain interlaced with leather, as well as a “CHANEL Paris” medallion with an openwork double C. Finally, the bag is adorned with the “CHANEL” signature in gold or lacquered metal letters across its front.
The CHANEL 22 bag will be available in boutiques from March 2022. For summer, it will be available in navy blue, purple, white, black, and two shades of pink. With its chic slouchy styling and classic CHANEL details, the 22 is sure to become yet another wildly popular style for the House.
