This weekend was truly amazing. I’ve been in Philadelphia since Wednesday for a bridal shower that my mum, along with my maids-of-honor and one of my bridesmaids, hosted for me on Saturday afternoon at one of my favorite places in town, the world famous Philadelphia Museum of Art. Little did I know, my parents were also planning an extra surprise for me to celebrate my upcoming nuptials. I grew up in center city Philadelphia in a neighborhood with a strong Italian community that’s rich with tradition, one of them being what’s known as a serenade. This party is thrown by the groom where he literally serenades his future bride with a song professing his love. While we’re not Italian and Darling Fiance was stuck behind his desk in Montreal, my parents totally surprised me by throwing a serenade for me on Friday night. With a permit to block our street off secured by a neighbor who’s connected to the city, my parents and our neighbors got together to throw one killer party on Friday night. With a live band and delicious food, my family, friends and neighbors stood in for Darling Fiance to serenade me. My Paris themed shower on Saturday also blew me away. Thrown at Granite Hill, the Stephen Starr helmed restaurant in the Philadelphia Museum of Art, my mum with help from the girls truly outdid themselves executing a gorgeous event (with specially brought in cupcakes from Sprinkles as part of the favors!). It was a beautiful afternoon spent with many of the lovely women in my life, my future mother-in-law included. I can’t say thank you enough for the two amazing events that were thrown in my honor this weekend! Here’s a peek at the shower, I hope you enjoy!
