While I have a core stable of beauty products that I use regularly (many of them daily!), I’m always on the lookout for great new products to discover. The beauty sphere is incredibly crowded and it’s sometimes hard to find the real gems out there. I personally gravitate towards companies that produce their products in a responsible way and with quality ingredients, especially when it comes to what I use on madam. One such company that has been popping up on my radar for a little while now has been BEAUTYCOUNTER. What first hooked my attention to the brand was their “Never List.” With over 1,500 questionable or harmful chemicals found on it, BEAUTYCOUNTER has committed to never using these ingredients. To put that number in perspective, the European Union has banned more than 1,300 chemicals and restricted another 250 in personal care products while Canada has banned 500 chemicals and restricted close to 80. As for the United States, only 30 chemicals have been partially banned. The BEAUTYCOUNTER “Never List” is quite an impressive commitment to providing safe and high quality products and I love that they haven’t stopped there. The company and its very passionate representatives are becoming a strong lobbying force for advanced safety measures regarding the production of personal care products. With the founder’s call to put the truth back in beauty, the company is surely poised to bring about change in an industry that impacts so many of our lives. Another component of the company that really resonates with me is their transparency. Not only do they list the ingredients in their entirety, but they also list what many of the packing materials are made of. And as a bonus, the packaging and branding of the products are clean and elegant.

I use this every morning and I found that it’s the perfect way to start off my AM skin care routine. It has a subtle and calming scent that reminds me of a trip to the spa, and cleans a refreshes my skin wonderfully. It’s sulfate free, but still has a nice light lather. With a softening blend of fruit and berry seed oils, it gently cleanses and moisturizes the skin. It also contains green tea to help soothe and calm the skin, perfect for the bracing the cold of winter and how drying heat can be on your skin. With a five-star rating on the BEAUTYCOUNTER website, it’s clear that this product is a real winner. It’s also a totally organic product.
This is another organic product from the BEAUTYCOUNTER range that I really have been enjoying. A good day cream is an essential, especially in winter, and with the combination of omega-rich natural oils and vitamin-rich fruit extracts, this cream packs a seriously skin care punch.
Another must use item for me has been the Lip Conditioner in Calendula. Winter is particularly hard on the lips, and I find mine dry out very easily unless I properly nourish them. While I’ll reach for this during the day, it’s become an essential part of my PM skin care routine before bed. With ingredients like avocado oil, shea butter, jojoba oil, calendula and chamomile oils, this product is ultra-moisturizing. It’s also another 5-star reviewed item and is organic.
This is another 5-star reviewed product and one that I’ve been really impressed by. It’s a two in one product that you can use for both baby’s hair and as a body wash. While not organic, it is tear free and very gentle. Madam, like many other babies, has sensitive and tender skin and this (and other BEAUTYCOUTNER products) have never irritated her.
Just like it’s important to moisturize and nourish your own skin, it’s also important to do this for baby. I know I keep mentioning it, but this is truly essential during the winter. Yet another 5-star product, this balm is organic and perfect for little one’s delicate skin. Featuring a blend of shea butter and jojoba oil, this is a great everyday product to use on baby.
*A note on the baby products: I love that the ingredient lists are short and sweet. The products are produced with only the essential ingredients and do the job wonderfully. There are no filler, artificial fragrances or colouring, so you can be sure you’re doing right by your little one.
