If you were a girl in the early 2000s, you probably fell in love with the Balenciaga City bag at least once. All of the early aughts It-Girls seemed to carry one. Nicole Ritche, Sienna Miller, Kate Moss, Paris Hilton, the Olsens and so many more were pictured holding a Balenciaga City bag in one of their seemingly endless paparazzi shots. I, like so many others, was down -right obsessed with this bag. So much so that I ended up with two beautiful satin versions of it. While it might not have the same It-Bag status that it once had, the style has aged wonderfully. I find myself reaching for mine just as much as I do my more current styles. With its slouchy style and just edgy enough vibes, it adds a little bit of effortless rock-and-roll glam to my look. With the Balenciaga City bag having been such a popular bag at one time, it’s a great style to pick up on the re-sale market. There’s a plethora of options available at very attractive price points if you don’t want to invest the money in a brand-new bag.
As for this amazing trench coat, I fell in love with its dramatic sleeves the instant I saw it. I actually scooped it up from my girl Mel Soldera when we, along with Claude from Conscience Coupable, hosted a closet sale. There ended up being a rather sizable snow fall during the sale resulting in fewer than anticipated attendees. However, we made the most out of it and had a fun time hanging out, catching up, and shopping each other’s items. It’s such a fun thing to have friends with such incredible personal style! I’m counting down the days till we’ll all be able to enjoy catching up again in person. The industry here in Montreal is rather small and I’m lucky to say that so many of the women I’ve met over the past decade of writing WestmountFashionista are such incredible individuals. Many of them, I’m lucky enough to call friends in “real” life.
