When I was invited to join the Jouer team backstage at the Kate Spade presentation, I was excited to say the least. My favorite cosmetics line paired with the ladylike designs of Kate Spade and complimented by custom designed nails by the iconic Deborah Lippmann herself culminated in pure perfection. The Jouer team was helmed by the beauty and fashion world makeup artist to the stars Neil Scibelli who created a sweetly feminine face with just the right amount Valley of the Dolls glam. Think artfully executed cat-eyes with “Panther” liquid shimmer eyeliner, pink lips in the aptly named “Kate” lipstick and topped with moisturizing lipgloss in “Blush“, flawless skin with a subtle flush thanks to “Matte” Moisture Tint, Mattifying Translucent powder, and mineral powder blush in “Peony.” As for nails, I had the chance to listen to Madam Lippmann herself explain her inspiration for the bold yet fashion-forward nail look that she created for the presentation. Nails were in the ever so popular stiletto shape which added just the right amount of edge to compliment the sweetness of the Spring 2014 collection from Kate Spade. The nail design itself was inspired by the classic Kate Spade cap-toe shoe which was echoed in the shimmering pewter tip in “Bad Mood Rising.” The base was a milky alabaster with a matteen finish in “Pseudo Silk Kimono” and each manicure featured an accent strip on the individual nails in either “Groove is in the Heart“, a flamingo pink, “It’s Raining Men“, a classic bold red, or “Walking on Sunshine“, a lively lemon yellow, depending upon the model.
