Back to School

January 6, 2012

Guess who went back to school this week darlings? That’s right, this girl. Once again I’m the oldest person in my class, save for my professors, but I couldn’t be happier to be back in the world of academia. After graduating high school, I took the typical route of entering university right away. I majored in something that I thought I was passionate about, International Relations, and joined a sorority. Feel free to insert Elle Woods jokes here, my professors sure did when I showed up to class in heels and toting a big pink bag. Then, life happened. I realized I had NO clue what I really wanted to study. So I focused on my professional development, but not before traveling a bit. I landed in the fashion industry and got my dream job as a buyer. After stints as a personal shopper and working with some pretty well-known labels, school started calling me again. So did a pretty cute guy in Montreal who used to go by the name Darling Boyfriend. It worked out perfectly that our relationship was ready to go to the next level at the same time as I was finally ready to go back to school. Not only did I find an amazing guy in Montreal, but I found a pretty great university as well. One that houses the Montreal Institute for Genocide and Human Rights Studies and that has allowed me to follow my non-fashion related passion, history. The point to my post darlings, well besides the shameless plug of MIGS…really, you should check out the amazing work the center is producing, is to urge you all to follow your passions and enjoy the journey of life. This might sound trite and a tad bit sentimental for a fashion blog, but it’s something that I really believe in. Following my passions lead me back to school, to Montreal, and to start this blog that has allowed my to interact with all of you Louboutin-rocking readers. For all of those things, and my shoe collection, I count myself one lucky girl.

On a fashion related note, how fabulous is the bag I’m carrying in these photos?! My future in-laws know me oh so well and are too sweet.  They brought back this amazing custom made piece for me from Venice. From Atelier Venetia, the world famous shop of Antonia Sautter, it oozes Italian opulence and is so unlike any of my other purses. The fact that it looks like it was made to match with one of my favorite pairs of ballerinas, makes it that much more fabulous.

Turtleneck: American Apparel

Jeans: Seven For All Mankind

Ballet Flats: Pretty Ballerinas

Bag: Atelier Venetia

Headband: ASOS

I enjoy long walks through Neiman Marcus, red soled shoes, skinny black pants, oversized cocktail rings, obnoxious bows, nipped waists and full skirts.
