I’m so thrilled to share with you that I’ve teamed up with the fabulous stroller brand Baby Jogger to bring you some awesome content over the next few months. I’ll be introducing you to some of their amazing strollers, showing you some of my favorite ways to enjoy Montreal with a little one, and even offering you the chance to win some incredible Baby Jogger goodies of your own!
As any parent knows, there are so many items that you feel like you need thanks to the countless baby books and (frequently unsolicited) advice that is offered to you during the lead up to the arrival of your little one. From the large items like cribs and strollers, to the smaller items like diaper bags and play-mats, the list can seem never-ending. For some, this is exciting and for others, this might feel incredibly overwhelming. I remember the first time Darling Husband and I went to start putting together our baby registry, we stood in the middle of the boutique with their two-page list of suggested “must-haves” and looked around totally dumbfounded. We quickly took a step back and started slashing items off the list that we felt were unnecessary for our lifestyle and, thanks to the square footage of our apartment at the time, simply wouldn’t fit into our home. However, a good stroller is something that almost all parents would agree is an absolute necessity and was one of the items at the top of our list.
Over the course of madam’s first year, living in the city and being a young family that loves to travel, we quickly learned that a quality compact stroller was something that would be ideal for us. Ideally, one that would fold up easily and stow away without issue since we live in a condo and Darling Husband drives a zippy little sports car. Quite fortuitously, the wonderful people at Baby Jogger suggested that we give their City Tour stroller a try to kick off our partnership. A recent addition to the Baby Jogger family of strollers, the City Tour is lightweight (it only weighs 14lbs!), compact, and has a sleek and modern design. With its UV50+ extended canopy and the multi-position reclining seat, the stroller is ideal for keeping baby safe and comfortable and is even wonderfully suited for napping on the go. Having rented a similar type of stroller from another brand while we were in Paris this past spring, I’m quite comfortable saying the City Tour is a superior city and travel stroller. While the competitor’s model was difficult to maneuver through the narrow streets of the Marais and over the bumpy ground of the Tulleries, the City Tour’s lightweight and durable wheels make the stroller so easy to push. As you can see from the pictures, we tested out the City Tour stroller in Montreal’s Old Port for a comparable city experience with narrow sidewalks and cobble stone streets.
Within minutes of using the City Tour the first time, Darling Husband and I kept turning to each other saying how we wished we had this stroller in Paris and how perfectly it was going to fit into our everyday life here in Montreal. And in fact, I know we will have the City Tour on all subsequent trips with us. With its compact size and easy transportation and storage (it comes with a backpack style carry bag and has a built-in carry strap), its perfect for many different modes of transportation. I love that I can leave it in the trunk of the car and easily pull it out whenever I need it. From quick errands around our neighborhood to post-work walks through the Old Port, the City Tour has fit seamlessly into our life since we first took it out of the box. And on the subject of the box, our doorman didn’t believe that an entire stroller fit into the one compact box that was delivered! I too was amazed when we first received the stroller and was only further pleasantly surprised when Darling Husband and I unboxed it to discover that assembly consisted of simply snapping the wheels into the frame.
For my fellow city mums, travel-loving parents, or those just looking for a quality stroller that doesn’t resemble a tank or off-road vehicle, the Baby Jogger City Tour is perfect for you. It’s recommended for little ones starting at 6 months and up to 45lbs (20kg), so you’ll be able to get a few years’ use out of it – welcome news when you realize that most things you buy for a baby become obsolete after a few months.
