Last week, I had the pleasure of spending the afternoon with Miss America 2014 Nina Davuluri as she visited the headquarters of Joseph Ribkoff. Launched in 1957, this legendary Canadian designer has dressed the reigning Miss America since the 2009 title holder Katie Stam. One of the stops on Miss America’s whirlwind year of travel is to visit the Joseph Ribkoff headquarters and I was able to tag along with Nina as she visited with every single department in the massive complex that houses the entire design, production, shipping, and customer service operation. It was amazing to see how excited each and every employee was to see her, from the design team to the seamstresses and even the shipping guys. The entire Joseph Ribkoff team welcomed Nina warmly and with camera phones waiting. Another highlight of the afternoon was getting a chance to meet Mr. Ribkoff, who after over half a century in the fashion industry is still totally hands-on as he helms his internationally loved brand that is still designed and produced right here in the suburbs of Montreal.
