When I first stumbled upon this POLÈNE Bag during an Instagram scroll, I instantly fell in love with it. It reminded me so much of Jane Birkin’s other iconic bag, the simple wicker basket bag that she wore everywhere. From black tie events to the market, Birkin was frequently pictured with her simple and stylish basket. In fact, it is thanks to that humble basket bag that the Birkin was born. In 1981, by chance, Birkin was seated next to Jean-Louis Dumas, Hermès’ chief executive on a flight. During boarding, Birkin attempted to place her basket bag in the overhead compartment only to have its contents tumble out. This in turn lead to a conversation with Dumas about finding a stylish bag large enough to fit her things. During the flight, the two began to design the bag that would become one of, if not, the most iconic bags in the world and would be named in honour of Jane. The Birkin.
As for this dress, it might look slightly familiar. I loved the style so much that I picked it up in the neutral linen that it was previously also shown in. {You can check out how I styled it here}. When I find a piece that I really love, I have a tendency of buying it in other colours when available. In fact, these classic CHANEL slingback shoes are another item that I have in multiples. I loved the classic camel and black pair so much that I picked up another that also feature a pretty chain detail on the heel. I also absolutely have my eye on yet another pair in another colour combination when my shopping budget allows for it. They truly are comfortable and are incredibly chic. They’re also very easy to dress up or down, and look as perfect with a pair of jeans as they do with a dress or pair of trousers.
