In honor of her capsule collection for Le Chateau, Italian shoe designer Anne B. offered to give my readers a little insight into the collection and her process creating it. From drawing on her Northern Italian roots to encouraging women to embrace their own style and confidence, Anne B. offers a glimpse into this truly special collaboration. This made-in-Italy leather collection of chic little flats and elegant heels offers a bit of La Dolce Vita for Le Chateau’s international client base. The heels will transition perfectly from day to-night and the flats are begging to be worn with a slim black pant, perfect for embracing your inner Audrey Hepburn in Roman Holiday.
Where did you draw inspiration from when designing the gorgeous heels and flats in this collection?
I actually did not take inspiration from a particular source: just feeling my way of thinking of the new season that’s coming and trying to combine very simple and clear lines with very special details
What is the process like for you when designing footwear?
I look around and I pay attention to everything and collecting ideas. After that, I let the most interesting things come to the surface of my mind and I start to work on a very few items. The rest of the collection is built around these first very basic ideas and realised in harmony all together
Was the design process for a collaboration such as this one any different then your regular process?
The only difference is that I paid more attention to the final customer, trying to make an interpretation of the Italian style for the Canadian women
Italian women are know for having such beautiful style, what are some ways Canadian women can emulate their look?
They do not have to emulate other women: they just need to feel they’re being feminine and pick up some accessories from us. I do not believe that emulation is the right way to feel well about ourselves.
Any woman can be very elegant if she arrives to wear what she likes with a very special personality.
What Italian city best represents this collection?
I would say that there is not just one city. However, the simplicity and the pureness of this capsule is very representative of the North of Italy: from Milan to Venice.
Did you have any specific type of woman in mind while designing this collection?
I do think to a woman who likes to be elegant at any time during the day, but who is very careful to comfort and quality.
She does not wear a pair of shoes juste because they are nice, but also and even more because they have a special content in terms of quality and attention to the details
Do you have a favorite shoe in the collection?
Yes, the flat in python of course.
